What To Do at Hurricane Ridge:

If you packed a lunch, you can sit at one of the benches or picnic tables located near the parking lot, or up the road at the picnic area. Alternatively, you can bring a picnic blanket with you and enjoy your lunch at one of the various viewpoints that are accessible by foot! Please make sure to clean up all food and garbage from your picnic area and leave no trace in the park.

It’s time to start exploring! For a map of the trails in the park, please follow this link. We recommend taking the following route to make the most of your time at the park:

Start with the High Ridge Trail, which begins in the parking lot. Follow this trail until you reach a crossroad, where you will then follow the sign to Sunrise Point, which offers 360° views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, Port Angeles, and the Olympic Mountains.

Once you’re done enjoying the gorgeous views from Sunrise Point, turn around and walk down the same trail you took to come up. When you reach the first fork, stay right and continue on the trail until you reach the second fork, where you will turn right to take the Cirque Rim Trail to another stunning viewpoint.

Once you’ve taken in the breathtaking views, turn around and follow the trail that you took to get to the viewpoint. When you get to the first junction, you can either turn right to walk through a forested path back to the parking lot; or you can continue on to the next path which will guide you through a meadow, which will also guide you back to the parking lot.

The entire walk is approximately 2 and a quarter miles long (3.6 km), and will take you roughly 50 minutes if you are walking continuously.

- Walk along the Olympic Discovery Trail, which goes for 3.2 miles along the waterfront of Port Angeles.

Taking a Later Return Shuttle?

If you would like to spend more time at the park, you can take a return shuttle at 5:30pm and then catch the 9:30pm sailing back to Victoria.

With the extra time at the top of Hurricane Ridge, you can check out the hike to Klahhane Ridge, which is 3.8 miles from the parking lot. Alternatively, you can check out the trail to Hurricane Hill (1.6 miles), which starts at the end of Hurricane Hill Road.
